Due to its geographic location, Panama holds strategic importance. This situation was key to all the countries it belonged to throughout its history. Its shapely silhouette of just 80 miles long in its narrowest areas gives this land the ideal figure to unite two oceans. This fact peaked Spain’s interest since the sixteenth century, turning the country into a crossroad of the seas and an important commercial center for its empire.

Panama has few rivals in the quantity and quality of its tourist attractions: fifteen hundred islands on both the Caribbean and Pacific coasts, the planets most nature-rich, accessible rain forests, spectacularly beautiful mountains and highlands, historical sites from a rich past as an international crossroads, seven living native cultures and a cosmopolitan capital city with a non-stop nightlife.

Not to mention the mega attraction: The Panama Canal. Sportfishing, diving, adventure, rafting, kayaking, birding, historic tours and nature treks are some of the activities considered world-class.
